Cyclones Improve to 3 and 0 (Click Here for Standings)

The Cyclones may have found a home in Cunningham Park. 3 games into the indoor season the Cyclones sit alone atop the Division C standings with 3 wins and 0 losses. In the last 2 weeks the girls beat the Mineola split squad A team 6-2 & the RVC Stars 5-2. It is the 2nd longest winning streak in team history.
It has been the combination of great positional play, aggressiveness and outstanding goaltending that has put the Cyclones in 1st place after 3 weeks. Following this past Saturdays win, the RVC coach stopped to comment on the outstanding goaltending exhibited by Lisa against his team saying that "that blonde haired goalkeeper, was unbeleiveable, she's the best youth keeper I have seen in a long time".
In a division where all other teams have allowed an average 6 goals a game, the Cyclones have only allowed an average of 2.33, that's outstanding!
Lisa is also one of 3 Cyclones to have at least one goal in each game thus far as both Dana and Jamie continued to consistently find the goal. Dana, who leads the team with 5 indoor tallies, has now increased her Cyclone record to a whopping 36 career goals, while Jamie, second on the team with 4 goals indoors is up to 13 career goals, good for second best overall.
Probably the most exciting aspect is that there have been 9 different goal scorers, including 2 more 1st time scorers in the last 2 weeks. Anna & Ariel, who both primarily play defense have both scored, showing what they can do on offense when given the opportunity.
Other Cyclones have come very close too. Marissa practically dented the crossbar, Deniz may have already scored if not for a controversial no goal signal from the official and Kathleen has come inches away from adding her name to the score sheet.
It has been a fun season thus far, but the schedule will get tougher as the Cyclones will face 2nd place Floral Park this week and 3rd place Levittown the week after. Both teams will undoubtedly have their match against the Cyclones circled on the schedule.
