Cyclones Head East in the Fall

The LIJSL divisional alignments for the fall season has been released and the Cyclones will be playing in Division 7E, E means east. We will be joined by some familiar foes and some teams that have been around a while that we've never played and one team that is new to LIJSL travel.

Division 7E fall opponents:
West Babylon Freedom- played last season in the Suffolk Interleague
Elwood Wildcats- the Elwood "B" team is playing their 3rd travel season, they finished 5th in Division 7E in the spring with 2 wins, 2 losses & 4 ties. They won Division 8E in their 1st travel season last fall with 5 wins, 1 loss & 2 ties.
Smithtown Freedom- It's been a long time, but the Cyclones played the Smithtown "C" team at Commack on Memorial Day 2 years ago. It remains the 2nd worst defeat in Cyclone history 6-1. Over the past 2 seasons the Freedom have played in Division 7E and have compiled a record of 5 wins, 8 losses and 4 ties.
Copiague Blue Angels- In our only official meeting a well contested, evenly matched Waldbaums Cup Round 2 game last season, the Blue Angels topped the Cyclones 1-0. The Blue Angels joined us for the Cyclone Memorial Day Festival in may. The highlight was when both teams joined together to take on the parents to close out the day. The Angels have played the last 2 seasons in Division 7E and have won 2, lost 11 & tied 4.
Dix Hills Demons- The Cyclones and the Demons have met twice, both meetings were last fall when the 2 teams were members of Division 8W. The Cyclones swept the series winning at Dix Hills 1-0 on a Lisa R goal and winning at POB 2-0 on goals by Jordan and Dana. The victory at POB was the historic win that had broken the 19 game, 742 day home winless streak for the Cyclones. Last season the Demons won 3, lost 6 and tied 1 in Division 8E.
Commack Dream Team- In one of the most heartbreaking ties in Cyclone history, the Cyclones blew a 1-0 lead late to the Dream Team in our only meeting in the Commack Tournament in 2006. The lone Cyclone goal was scored by Hall of Famer Emily "Hyper". The win would have been the 1st win for the Cyclones in a string of games that had hit 12 without a win. Instead the winless streak would extend to a club record 20 games before the Cyclones would win on Columbus weekend the following fall. After struggling to their worst seaon last fall in Divison 7E, 0 wins, 6 losses & 3 ties, the Dream Team responded with a strong spring in Division 8E this past season with 7 Wins and 3 losses.
Hauppauge Magic- after winning only 3 of their first 26 games as a travel team with 1 tie the Magic showed vast improvement by rebounding with a 7 win, 2 loss & 1 tie record finishng 2nd in Division 8E in the spring.
Cold Spring Harbor Cyclones-the other Cyclones. In 5 travel seasons the CSH Cyclones have never been outside the lowest division. Last season in Division 8E the Cyclones won 3 & lost 7.
